Food Service

Student Meals

It is important to keep money in your student's meal account. Payments may be made at your student's school using cash, check or our on-line payment service MySchoolBucks.com.

  • Once the money is received, it is deposited into your student’s personal food service account.

  • Students access their food service account with their student ID or pin number at meals.

  • If your student's account has a negative balance, you will receive an automated courtesy call from our District Food & Nutrition Services Office and/or a reminder letter.

  • You are always encouraged to check the balance of your student's account by contacting your student's school Food Service Manager or by visiting MySchoolBucks.com.

If you would prefer your student not access their account during breakfast, please contact the Food Service Manager at the school. We are able to indicate this on their account.

Pay by Check

  • Make checks payable to BSD Food Service

  • Checks must include your student’s full name

Pay On-line

  • Visit MySchoolBucks.com to check balances, make payments, set up automated weekly or monthly automatic deposits, set up automated low balance notifications or view if your student is purchasing meals.

Meal Prices and How to Pay

Free and Reduced Lunch

Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications are used to determine if your family qualifies for free or reduced-price meal benefits.

  • All applications from the previous year expire on October 7.

  • A new Family Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals is available online, at your school and the District Services Center (DSC) front desk, 8169 W Victory Road.

  • Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year. Completed applications are processed within ten days of receipt at the DSC. Once processed, you will be notified via mail whether or not you qualify for meal benefits.
  • All information on the application is kept confidential.

The online process reduces the potential for errors on the application and therefore reduces processing time. We encourage families completing the application to try this service.  The application is also available in Spanish.

Online Application for Free & Reduced Meals

If choosing to complete the written application, please note that photocopied, faxed or incomplete forms cannot be accepted and may result in a delay in free or reduced-price meal benefits.

Note: Students who qualify for food stamps and foster children qualify for free meals without completing an application. Food & Nutrition Services receives this Direct Certification information electronically. To assure your student receives the benefit, the student's name in Boise School District's database (Infinite Campus) must match exactly the one used for food stamps. If you have any questions, please contact the Food & Nutrition Services office at 854-4179.
