Mike Baker

This is my seventh year teaching in the Boise School District. Prior to my arrival in Boise, I lived in the Puget Sound area for 15 years, where I taught in elementary schools and was a literacy coach in the Central Kitsap School District. I have also taught at schools in Texas and New Mexico. In the classroom, I emphasize that mistakes are how you learn and that everybody has the ability to do great work. I want students to laugh, to have meaningful learning, to feel valued and to find purpose in the world. Most importantly, I believe the classroom should be a dynamic, emotionally safe, and fun place to be. When I'm not at school, I enjoy standing in rivers, cycling the foothills, and walking in untrammeled places.
